Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS contaminants that can linger in water because it resists breaking down. That persistence means small amounts introduced to a supply can stick around for a long time. Kings Bay homeowners often hear about PFOS from local water reports, neighbors, or private testing; if you’re worried, start by testing your water and then choose treatment designed specifically for PFAS and PFOS reduction.
Unlike chlorine or mineral taste issues common in hard water, PFOS usually can’t be detected by sight or smell, which makes it hard to judge by how the water looks at your tap in Kings Bay. Because it’s primarily a long-term exposure concern, many residents prefer treating water at the point it enters the home so drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry all benefit from the same protection.
The most effective single filter type for whole-house PFOS reduction is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system specifically configured for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing molecules onto its large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is more difficult to remove than routine taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon media, bed depth, and correct flow rates are important—especially in Nassau County homes where hard water and coastal conditions can affect system performance.
A whole-house GAC unit mounts on the main line so every faucet and appliance in your Kings Bay home receives treated water; for steady PFOS reduction it must be sized for peak household flow and maintained with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can assess your plumbing, recommend the right whole-house carbon configuration for PFOS, and suggest periodic testing before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
