Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS compounds that can persist in water and the environment for a very long time. Because it resists breaking down, small inputs over years can lead to an ongoing presence in a supply. Laird homeowners commonly first hear about PFOS from local water reports, community news, or a private home test. If you’re worried, start by confirming what’s in your water and then choose a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS doesn’t usually change the taste, smell, or appearance of water, so you can’t rely on your senses to know if it’s present. That’s why it’s considered more of a long‑term exposure issue than an obvious nuisance. For many families in Laird, treating water at the point it enters the house is the sensible choice so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all benefit from the reduction.
For whole‑house PFOS removal, the single best option is a high‑capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system sized and specified for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS is more difficult to address than typical taste‑and‑odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon, adequate bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole‑house GAC unit can protect an entire Laird home without relying on multiple under‑sink filters.
A whole‑house GAC filter is plumbed on the main water line so every faucet and appliance in your Laird home receives treated water; the system must be sized for your household peak flow and kept maintained with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can help specify a carbon configuration appropriate for PFOS that fits your plumbing and usage patterns, and follow‑up testing before and after installation can confirm ongoing performance.
