Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a member of the PFAS family that can persist in water and the environment for long periods. Because it breaks down slowly, small inputs over time may mean the compound remains in a local supply. Liberty Point homeowners often hear about PFOS through utility reports, local news after heavy seasonal rains, or from private home testing. If you’re worried, the sensible next steps are confirming your household’s water results and selecting treatment designed to address PFAS specifically.
PFOS usually has no taste or smell, so you can’t rely on how water looks at the tap to know if it’s present. That’s why many Liberty Point residents choose a preventative approach focused on long-term exposure reduction rather than temporary nuisance fixes. Treating water at the point it enters your house protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout your humid subtropical community — especially important when storms and seasonal runoff can affect source-water conditions.
For whole-house reduction, the single most effective option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s extensive surface area as water flows through. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than routine taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates are critical. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit will treat all fixtures in a Liberty Point home without needing multiple point-of-use filters.
A whole-house GAC filter is plumbed at the main line so every faucet and appliance receives treated water; sizing it for your household peak flow and keeping to scheduled media changeouts preserves PFOS reduction performance. Mr. Pure Water can help recommend a GAC configuration suited to PFOS treatment and to your Liberty Point plumbing and usage patterns. For extra assurance, we also suggest periodic testing before and after installation to confirm the system is performing as expected.
