Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a member of the PFAS family that can persist in the environment and sometimes shows up in drinking water. Because it breaks down very slowly, small inputs can remain in a supply for a long time. Littman homeowners commonly hear about PFOS through local testing or community updates; if you’re worried, the sensible first steps are confirming what’s in your water and selecting treatment that specifically targets PFAS.
Unlike chlorine or other taste-and-odor problems, PFOS usually has no smell or visible signs, so you can’t rely on your senses at the kitchen sink. It’s mainly a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance, which is why many Littman residents prefer to address it at the point where water enters the home. Treating incoming water protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout your house.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single-filter choice is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC reduces PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is more stubborn than routine taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can treat all fixtures in a Littman home without needing multiple under-sink devices.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main water line so every tap in your Littman home receives treated water; sizing to your peak flow and scheduled media changeouts keep PFOS reduction consistent. Mr. Pure Water can help choose a carbon configuration matched to PFOS concerns and your plumbing, and we recommend periodic before-and-after testing if you want ongoing verification of system performance.
