Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS compounds that can persist in the environment and sometimes shows up in drinking water. Because it breaks down slowly, small releases can lead to a lasting presence in a water supply. In Lois many homeowners first hear about PFOS from water quality reports, local coverage, or private testing. If you’re worried, the sensible next steps are confirming what’s in your tap water and selecting a treatment that specifically targets PFAS.
PFOS won’t usually change the taste, smell, or appearance of your water, so it can be hard to spot without testing. Rather than an immediate nuisance, PFOS is generally considered a longer-term exposure issue. For Lois households, treating water where it enters the home ensures reduced PFOS for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry instead of only at a single faucet.
The most effective single filter type for whole-house PFOS reduction is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto its extensive surface area as water flows through. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than common taste-and-odor compounds, the quality of the carbon, depth of the media bed, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can protect an entire Lois home without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main water line so every fixture in your Lois home gets treated water. To maintain PFOS reduction, the system must match your household’s peak flow and receive media changeouts on schedule. Mr. Pure Water can suggest a carbon configuration suited to PFOS reduction and to your plumbing and usage patterns, and follow-up testing before and after installation provides added assurance of ongoing performance.
