Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS compounds that can persist in drinking water and the environment for long periods. Because it doesn’t break down readily, small releases can result in ongoing presence in a supply over time. McDavid homeowners typically hear about PFOS from local water reports, neighbors, or home testing—so if you’re worried, the sensible next steps are confirming what’s in your water and selecting treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS usually has no taste or smell, unlike chlorine or other obvious issues, which makes it hard to judge simply by looking at water from your tap in McDavid. It’s generally framed as a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance. For practical protection, treating water where it enters your house ensures reductions apply to drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry throughout your McDavid home.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) formulated to address PFAS. Carbon removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than common taste-and-odor compounds, media quality, proper bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system treats the entire McDavid home without needing multiple small under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is fitted on your main water line so every faucet and fixture in McDavid receives treated water; to keep PFOS reduction steady it should be sized for peak household flow and maintained with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration matched to PFOS concerns and your home’s plumbing and usage, and periodic testing before and after installation gives added assurance that the system continues to perform.
