Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one member of the wider class of PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water because they don’t break down easily. That persistence means small releases over time may lead to ongoing presence in a water supply. In Munson, homeowners typically first hear about PFOS through local water testing, public reports, or news items, and the sensible next step is verifying your own tap water and selecting treatment that targets PFAS compounds specifically.
Unlike chlorine or other taste-and-odor problems, PFOS usually can’t be seen or smelled at the faucet, which makes it hard to judge by appearance. Because it’s considered a long-term exposure concern rather than an obvious nuisance, many Munson households choose to address it at the point where water enters the home so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all benefit from the same treated supply.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single-filter choice is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system specifically engineered for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing the compound onto the media’s extensive internal surface as water flows through. PFOS can be more challenging to remove than common taste-and-odor contaminants, so the quality of the carbon media, sufficient bed depth and correct flow rates are important for reliable performance. A properly sized whole-house GAC system will treat an entire Munson home without relying on several under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main service line so every faucet and fixture in your Munson home receives treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction it should be sized for peak household flow and serviced with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration suited to PFOS removal that matches your plumbing and water use, and periodic testing before and after installation provides added assurance that the system is performing as expected.
