Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can linger in the environment and resist natural breakdown. Because it persists, even small amounts released over time can mean ongoing presence in a water supply. Naples Park homeowners commonly encounter information about PFOS through utility reports, neighborhood communications, or private testing. If you’re worried about what’s in your water, the next sensible step is confirming results with a test and selecting treatment engineered specifically for PFAS removal.
PFOS doesn't change the taste, smell, or appearance of water the way chlorine or iron might, so you can’t rely on your senses to know whether it’s there. Because concerns are generally about long-term exposure rather than an immediate nuisance, many Naples Park residents choose to address it at the point of entry so treated water supplies drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout the house. That approach is especially practical here, where hard water and coastal humidity can influence plumbing and appliance wear.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) specifically formulated for PFAS is the most effective single-filter choice. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS can be tougher to remove than routine taste-and-odor issues, the effectiveness depends on using quality carbon, sufficient bed depth, and the right flow rate for your home. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can protect every faucet in a Naples Park home without needing multiple point-of-use units.
A whole-house GAC filter is mounted on the main service line so all fixtures—from kitchen taps near Mercato to outdoor hose bibs in North Naples—receive treated water. To maintain consistent PFOS reduction, the system must be sized for your household peak flow and serviced with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can help specify a carbon configuration suited to PFOS reduction and your plumbing setup, and follow-up testing before and after installation provides added assurance that the system is performing as expected.
