Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a persistent member of the PFAS family that can remain in water supplies for long periods. Because it resists natural breakdown, small releases over time may result in a continuing presence in drinking water. Nubbin Ridge homeowners typically hear about PFOS from water reports, local media, or private testing; if you’re worried, start by confirming what’s in your well or municipal supply and then choose treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS doesn’t change the look, taste, or smell of water the way chlorine or sulfur can, so you can’t rely on your senses to detect it in Nubbin Ridge faucets. Because concern is generally about long-term exposure rather than an immediate nuisance, many families prefer treating water where it enters the house so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry are all covered by the same protection.
For whole-house PFOS reduction, the most effective single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated to remove PFAS. Carbon removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto its extensive internal surface as water flows through; because PFOS can be more difficult to address than routine taste-and-odor issues, the quality of the media, bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can protect every tap in your Nubbin Ridge home without depending on multiple point-of-use devices.
A whole-house GAC filter is plumbed on the main line so every fixture in your Nubbin Ridge residence receives treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction you should size the system to your peak flow and replace the media on schedule. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration matched to PFOS concerns and your home’s plumbing and usage patterns, and periodic before-and-after testing provides additional assurance the system is performing as expected.
