Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS contaminants that can persist in the environment and remain in water supplies for a long time. Because it doesn’t break down readily, small inputs over time can mean an ongoing presence in a system. Palm Beach Farms homeowners often first hear about PFOS from local water reports, neighborhood testing or news stories; if you’re worried, the next practical step is testing your water and choosing a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS usually has no taste, color, or odor, so you can’t rely on your senses to know whether it’s in your tap water. That makes it a long-term exposure issue more than an immediate nuisance. In Palm Beach Farms — where hard, limestone-influenced groundwater is common — treating water at the point it enters your home protects drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry throughout the house.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) media formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than typical taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon, sufficient bed depth and proper flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can serve an entire Palm Beach Farms residence without depending on multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC unit is plumbed on the main water line so every tap and appliance gets treated water; sizing it for your household peak flow and staying on a media change schedule keeps PFOS reduction reliable. Mr. Pure Water can help select a carbon configuration suited to PFOS, your Palm Beach Farms plumbing and your household usage, and recommend periodic before-and-after testing to confirm long-term performance.
