Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a member of the PFAS family that can persist in the environment and remain in drinking water for a long time. Because it breaks down slowly, small introductions over time may lead to ongoing presence in a water supply. Homeowners around Patrick AFB commonly hear about PFOS from utility reports, local news, or private water tests. If you’re worried, start by confirming what’s in your water and then choose a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS usually has no taste or smell, unlike chlorine or other obvious aesthetic problems, so you can’t rely on sight or scent to know if it’s present. That’s why many Space Coast homeowners prefer treating water where it enters the house: a whole-house solution covers drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry across homes in Brevard County neighborhoods like Satellite Beach and Cocoa Beach. Given our humid subtropical climate and the hard water common here, treating at the main line gives broader protection for plumbing and appliances as well as for people.
For whole-house removal of PFOS, the most effective single option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system designed for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a large internal surface area as water flows through. Because PFOS can be harder to remove than simple taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon media, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit treats every fixture in your Patrick AFB home without depending on multiple under-sink filters.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main water line so treated water reaches every faucet and appliance; sizing it for your peak flow and scheduling media changeouts keeps PFOS reduction consistent. At Mr. Pure Water we’ll recommend a carbon configuration suited to PFOS concerns and to your home’s plumbing and usage patterns — especially useful in Brevard County where hard water can increase scale. For peace of mind, you can also arrange periodic testing before and after installation to confirm the system’s performance over time.
