Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the persistent PFAS chemicals that can linger in drinking water because it doesn’t break down readily. In Port Salerno and the Martin County area, homeowners commonly hear about PFAS from water quality reports, local news, or independent home testing. If PFOS is a concern for your household, the next sensible steps are confirming what’s in your water and selecting treatment that specifically targets PFAS contaminants.
PFOS generally has no taste, smell, or visible sign, so you can’t rely on how your tap water looks to know whether it’s present. That’s why many Port Salerno residents treat water at the point it enters the house — a whole-house approach protects drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry across homes in neighborhoods like Manatee Pocket and Salerno Shores. Because PFOS is a long-term exposure issue rather than an immediate nuisance, treating the incoming supply is a practical way to reduce lifetime exposure.
For whole-home PFOS removal, the most effective single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface area as water flows through the media. Given that PFOS is tougher to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor issues, media quality, adequate bed depth and correct flow rates are important — especially in Port Salerno homes served by Martin County utilities where hard water and mineral scale can affect system performance.
A whole-house GAC filter sits on the main water line so every faucet and fixture in your Port Salerno home receives treated water; it should be sized for peak household flow and maintained with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can help select a whole-home carbon configuration that fits your plumbing, accounts for hard water, and targets PFOS, and we recommend periodic testing before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
