Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water for a very long time. Because it doesn’t break down easily, small, repeated releases can mean the compound stays in a water system over time. In Pretty Bayou many homeowners hear about PFOS from local testing, utility reports, or media coverage; if you’re worried the next sensible step is to confirm what’s in your water with a test and then pick treatment that specifically targets PFAS.
PFOS usually has no taste or smell, so you can’t rely on how water looks at the tap to know if it’s present. That’s why it’s generally handled as a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance issue. For Pretty Bayou households, the most practical solution is treating water where it enters the house so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry are all covered.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. Carbon removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than many taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, sufficient bed depth and proper flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can protect an entire Pretty Bayou home without needing several under-sink devices.
A whole-house GAC filter is fitted on the main water line so every faucet and fixture in your Pretty Bayou home receives treated water; it should be sized for your peak flow and maintained with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration suited for PFOS that matches your plumbing and household use, and periodic pre- and post-treatment testing can confirm the system is performing as expected.
