Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in the environment and resist natural breakdown. Over time even small amounts can remain in a water supply, so homeowners often encounter PFOS through a private well test, a utility report, or local news. In Rainbow Lakes and the greater Marion County area many houses rely on groundwater that can be mineral-rich; if PFOS is a concern, the next step is confirming your water’s makeup and selecting a treatment aimed specifically at PFAS.
Because PFOS is odorless and invisible, it's not something you can judge by taste, smell, or appearance at the tap—unlike chlorine or other nuisance issues. That’s why Rainbow Lakes homeowners who worry about long-term exposure choose treatments that protect the whole household. Installing protection where water enters the home treats drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry, giving broader coverage than point-of-use devices.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system designed for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large surface area as water flows through; because PFOS is tougher to remove than common taste-and-odor compounds, the quality of the carbon, bed depth and correct flow rate are important. A properly sized whole-home GAC setup treats every fixture in a Rainbow Lakes residence without relying on several under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is installed on the main supply so all faucets and appliances receive treated water; in hard-water areas like Rainbow Lakes, sizing to peak flow and scheduling media changeouts are key to reliable PFOS reduction. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a GAC configuration matched to your home’s plumbing and usage patterns, and we suggest periodic testing before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance and peace of mind.
