Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water because it doesn’t break down readily. Over time small amounts can remain in a water system, so homeowners in Royals Crossroads sometimes hear about it from local reports, news, or private testing. If you’re worried, start by confirming what’s in your water and then pick a treatment designed specifically to reduce PFAS like PFOS.
Unlike chlorine or other taste-and-odor problems, PFOS usually can’t be seen or smelled at the tap, which makes judging risk by appearance difficult. It’s primarily a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance, so many Royals Crossroads residents choose to treat water where it enters the house so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all get the same protection.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto carbon’s large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon media, bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can protect an entire Royals Crossroads home without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is mounted on the main service line so every faucet and fixture in your Royals Crossroads home receives treated water. To maintain PFOS reduction you’ll want the system sized for your peak flow and serviced with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration suited to PFOS reduction that matches your plumbing and household usage, and regular before-and-after testing provides extra assurance the system continues to perform.
