Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is part of the PFAS family and can persist in the environment, meaning small releases can remain in water supplies for a long time. Residents of San Blas most often hear about PFOS from local reports, the news, or from home testing; if you’re uneasy about what’s in your water, the sensible first steps are getting a confirmed test and choosing treatment designed for PFAS contaminants.
PFOS doesn’t change the taste, smell, or appearance of water the way chlorine or sediment can, so you can’t rely on your senses to know if it’s present in San Blas tap water. Because it’s generally a long-term exposure concern, many homeowners prefer to reduce PFOS at the point where water enters the house so treated water is used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) media system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large surface area as water flows through. Because PFOS can be tougher to remove than typical taste-and-odor issues, media quality, bed depth, and correct flow rates are important; a properly sized whole-house GAC system can protect every fixture without needing multiple point-of-use units.
A whole-house GAC system is mounted on the main water line so every faucet in your San Blas home receives treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction, the unit must match your household’s peak flow and have scheduled media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can help determine the right whole-house carbon setup for PFOS that fits your plumbing and usage, and we recommend periodic testing before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
