Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one form of PFAS that can persist in groundwater and finished drinking water because it breaks down very slowly. Over time small amounts can remain in a water system, so many Shalimar homeowners first hear about it from local reports, news stories, or private home testing. If you’re worried about PFOS where you live, the sensible next steps are confirming what’s in your water with a test and selecting treatment designed specifically for PFAS contaminants.
PFOS usually has no taste or smell, so you can’t rely on appearance or odor at the tap to know whether it’s present. That’s why it’s commonly treated as a long-term exposure concern rather than an obvious nuisance. For Shalimar homes, installing treatment at the main entry point into the house makes the most sense if you want reduction for drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry — covering every faucet and fixture rather than just the kitchen tap.
The single best whole-house option for reducing PFOS is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system engineered for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface area as water flows through the media. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than routine taste-and-odor compounds, the effectiveness depends on media quality, bed depth and proper flow rates — so a GAC system sized correctly for your Shalimar home is important to treat the whole house without relying on multiple small point-of-use units.
A whole-house GAC filter is mounted on the main water line so every fixture in your Shalimar residence receives treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction you should size the system for peak flow and schedule media changeouts on time. Mr. Pure Water can help pick a carbon configuration that fits your plumbing and household usage, and we recommend periodic testing before and after installation if you want independent confirmation the system is delivering consistent PFOS reduction.
