Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can be persistent in the environment and slow to break down, so small inputs can linger in a water supply. Homeowners around Shiloh and the greater Okaloosa County area often hear about PFOS from local water reports, community news, or private testing. If you’re worried, the sensible next steps are confirming what your water contains with a test and selecting a treatment that specifically targets PFAS like PFOS.
PFOS usually won’t affect your water’s taste or smell, so you can’t rely on senses alone to know whether it’s present. That’s why many Shiloh residents choose to address contaminants at the point where water enters the home — treating water at the main line protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout houses in our humid subtropical climate, where warm, coastal conditions can also encourage plumbing corrosion and biofilm.
For whole-home reduction of PFOS, the most effective single option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC works by adsorbing PFOS onto its extensive internal surface as water flows by, and because PFOS can be tougher to remove than simple taste-and-odor issues, the quality of the carbon, bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit treats all fixtures in your Shiloh home without needing multiple under-sink devices.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main water line so every faucet and appliance in your Shiloh residence gets treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction the system must match your household peak flow and receive timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can assess your home’s plumbing, usage, and moderate water hardness to recommend the right whole-house carbon configuration for PFOS, and follow-up testing before and after installation gives you measurable assurance that the system is working.
