Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water because it doesn’t break down easily. Over time small releases can mean the compound remains detectable in a water supply, so many Sills homeowners first hear about it through water reports, local news, or private testing. If you’re worried about PFOS in your home, the next sensible steps are confirming what’s in your water and selecting treatment that specifically targets PFAS.
PFOS usually has no taste or odor, so unlike chlorine you can’t rely on sight or smell to know whether it’s present at your Sills tap. Because the concern is long-term exposure rather than an immediate nuisance, a reliable strategy is treating water at the point it enters the house so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all benefit from reduction.
For whole-house PFOS reduction, the most effective single option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) filter formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large surface area as water flows through; for a challenging contaminant like PFOS, media quality, bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system treats all fixtures without needing multiple under-sink units, making it a practical choice for Sills residences.
A whole-house GAC unit mounts on the main water line so every faucet in your Sills home receives treated water; sizing for peak flow and timely media replacements keep reduction consistent. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration suited to PFOS that fits your plumbing and household use, and we suggest periodic pre- and post-treatment testing to confirm ongoing performance.
