Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in the environment and resist breaking down, so even small releases can remain in a water supply for a long time. Homeowners in Sunset often hear about PFOS through local reports, news, or private testing; if you have questions, the next sensible step is to confirm what’s in your water and choose a treatment that specifically targets PFAS.
PFOS usually has no taste or smell, so it’s not something you can detect at the tap the way you might notice chlorine or mineral tastes. Because of that, Sunset residents shouldn’t rely on appearance alone to judge safety — addressing PFOS at the point where water enters the house ensures treated water is used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout your home.
The single most effective whole-house option for reducing PFOS is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a large internal surface area as water flows through; because PFOS can be tougher to remove than typical taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the media, bed depth, and correct flow rate are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit treats the entire home and avoids the need for multiple under-sink devices.
A whole-house GAC filter is installed on the main supply so every faucet and appliance in your Sunset home receives treated water; because Miami‑Dade County water tends to be hard, sizing the system for peak flow and scheduling regular media replacements helps maintain performance and limit limescale interactions. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a GAC configuration matched to your plumbing and household use, and we suggest periodic testing before and after installation to confirm ongoing PFOS reduction.
