Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one form of PFAS that can persist in the environment and linger in drinking water supplies. Because it breaks down very slowly, small releases over time can result in long-term presence in a system. Treasure Coast homeowners often first hear about PFOS through local water reports, regional news, or private home testing. If you’re worried, the sensible next steps are confirming what’s in your water with a test and choosing treatment engineered specifically for PFAS like PFOS.
PFOS doesn’t usually affect the look, smell, or taste of water the way chlorine or mineral issues do, so you can’t rely on your senses to spot it. That’s why many Treasure Coast residents — whether in Port St. Lucie, Jensen Beach, or Downtown Stuart — opt for protection at the point where water enters the house, so drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry are all covered. Treating at the main line is a practical way to address a long-term exposure concern even when the water seems normal.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS can be tougher to remove than common taste-and-odor contaminants, it’s important to use high-quality media, adequate bed depth, and proper flow rates. A correctly sized whole-house GAC unit can protect an entire Treasure Coast home—handling everything from showering to cooking—without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main water line so every faucet, shower, and appliance gets treated water; sizing for peak flow and scheduled media replacements keep PFOS reduction steady. Mr. Pure Water can help pick a whole-house carbon setup tailored to your Treasure Coast property, taking into account moderate water hardness, coastal plumbing concerns, and usage patterns. If you’d like extra assurance, we recommend testing your water before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
