Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water because it breaks down slowly in the environment. Over time small amounts can remain in a water source, so Valparaiso homeowners often discover concerns through local water reports, media coverage, or a private home test. If you’re worried about PFOS in your household water, start by confirming what’s present and selecting a treatment designed specifically to address PFAS.
PFOS usually won’t change the smell, taste, or appearance of your water, which makes it hard to detect just by using the tap. In Valparaiso that means visible clarity isn’t a reliable safety cue, and PFOS is primarily considered a long-term exposure issue rather than an immediate nuisance. Treating water where it enters your house ensures reduction for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout your home.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s extensive surface area as water flows through. Because PFOS can be tougher to remove than common taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the media, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system treats all Valparaiso plumbing without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main water line so every faucet and fixture in your Valparaiso home receives treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction you should size the system for peak household flow and perform media changeouts on schedule. Mr. Pure Water can help choose a whole-house carbon configuration suited to PFOS concerns and your home’s plumbing and usage, and periodic testing before and after installation can confirm ongoing performance.
