Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water because it doesn’t break down easily. Small introductions over time may lead to ongoing presence in a water supply, so many Wakulla residents discover PFOS concerns through local water testing, utility reports, or news. If you’re worried about PFOS in your home, the sensible next steps are confirming what’s in your water with testing and choosing treatment targeted specifically for PFAS.
PFOS usually has no taste or smell, so you can’t rely on appearance or odor to know whether it’s present in your tap water in Wakulla. Because it’s mainly a long-term exposure issue rather than an immediate nuisance, treating water at the point of entry makes sense: a whole-house solution protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout your home.
For whole-house PFOS reduction, the most effective single filter is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is more persistent than common taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates are important; a properly sized whole-house GAC system can treat an entire Wakulla home without depending on several under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is installed on the main water line so every faucet in your Wakulla home receives treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction, the system must be sized for peak flow and serviced with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration that fits your plumbing and usage and is appropriate for PFOS, and periodic testing before and after installation gives added confidence the system is performing as expected.
