Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one form of PFAS that can persist in drinking water because it breaks down very slowly in the environment. Small, repeated introductions can mean the compound remains in a water supply for years. Waveland homeowners commonly hear about PFOS from utility reports, local news, or private lab testing; if you’re concerned, the next step is to confirm what’s in your household water and select a treatment specifically designed for PFAS.
PFOS doesn’t usually affect taste or smell the way chlorine or iron do, so you can’t rely on your senses to tell whether it’s present in Waveland’s tap water. Because it’s primarily a long-term exposure issue, many families choose to treat water where it enters the house so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all get the same level of protection.
For whole-house removal of PFOS, the most effective single-filter option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface as water flows through; because PFOS is tougher to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor compounds, media quality, adequate bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can protect all fixtures without needing several under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is fitted on your main water line so every faucet in a Waveland home receives treated water; it must be sized for peak household flow and serviced with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration matched to PFOS concerns and to your plumbing and usage patterns, and periodic before-and-after testing provides documented proof the system is performing as expected.
