Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in the environment and sometimes shows up in drinking water. Because it breaks down very slowly, small amounts introduced over time can remain present in a water supply. West Bay homeowners often hear about PFOS from local water reports, the news, or private testing of wells and plumbing. If you’re worried, start by confirming what’s in your water and then choose a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS doesn’t usually affect taste or smell the way chlorine or algae can, so you can’t rely on your senses to tell whether it’s present. That’s why many families around West Bay prefer solutions that protect the whole household rather than waiting to detect a problem at a single tap. Treating water where it enters your home gives protection for drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry, which is a practical way to reduce long-term exposure.
For whole-house removal of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system made for PFAS reduction. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing the chemical onto its extensive internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than routine taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon, bed depth and correct flow rate are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can treat all fixtures in your West Bay home without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter sits on the main water line so every faucet and appliance in your West Bay residence receives treated water; it should be sized for peak household flow and serviced with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can help select a carbon configuration that fits your home’s plumbing and usage while targeting PFOS, and periodic before-and-after testing provides reassurance that the system continues to perform.
