Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a member of the PFAS family that can linger in water and the environment for years. Because it resists breaking down, small inputs can remain detectable over long periods. Westlake homeowners usually hear about PFOS from water reports, local news, or private testing. If you’re worried, start by confirming your water’s makeup and then choose treatment designed specifically for PFAS like PFOS.
PFOS doesn’t change the taste, smell, or appearance of water the way chlorine or mineral hardness does, so you can’t rely on your senses to spot it. In Palm Beach County’s hard municipal water, visible limescale can distract from invisible contaminants like PFOS. Because it’s primarily a long-term exposure issue, many Westlake homeowners prefer treating water at the point it enters the house so treated water is used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry.
The most effective single option for whole-house PFOS reduction is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto large internal surfaces as water flows through the media. PFOS is tougher to capture than everyday taste-and-odor compounds, so media quality, adequate bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can protect an entire Westlake home without needing multiple point-of-use devices.
A whole-house GAC filter is mounted on the main supply so every faucet in your Westlake home receives treated water; sizing to peak flow and routine media replacement keep PFOS reduction steady. Mr. Pure Water can suggest a carbon configuration matched to your plumbing, household demand, and the hard water conditions common in Palm Beach County. For extra assurance, consider testing your water before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
