Including filter system and high-performance PFTrDA filter.
PFTrDA is one of the PFAS family of chemicals that can make their way into drinking water when these persistent compounds move from industrial and consumer uses into the environment. Because PFAS don’t break down easily, they can linger in water supplies long after their original sources are gone. While homeowners often hear about PFAS as a group, specific compounds such as PFTrDA may appear on testing panels and reports — and if your Chason property shows PFTrDA, it’s understandable to want a whole-home solution to reduce it.
PFTrDA won’t change the smell, taste, or appearance of your water, so lab testing that reports PFAS by compound is the reliable way to detect it. Even when water meets regulatory requirements, many Chason residents choose additional treatment for peace of mind and extra protection. A whole-house system treats water at the point of entry, ensuring water used for showering, cooking, laundry and toothbrushing throughout your Chason home is consistently filtered.
The most effective single-filter option for PFTrDA in a whole-house configuration is a high-capacity activated carbon system, commonly using granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon reduces PFAS by adsorbing the compounds onto the media as water flows through. Because PFTrDA is considered a longer-chain PFAS, it is often more readily captured by quality carbon compared with some shorter-chain types. Proper tank sizing and sufficient contact time are important so the system performs well at the flow rates typical in Chason homes.
A whole-house carbon filter is mounted where water enters your home so every faucet and appliance in Chason receives treated water without multiple point-of-use units. Maintaining PFTrDA reduction requires replacing the carbon media on a schedule based on your household water use and the system’s rated capacity. Adding a sediment pre-filter helps protect the carbon by reducing clogging and channeling, which keeps performance steady. Mr. Pure Water can help Chason homeowners size and install a whole-house activated carbon system tailored to reduce PFAS like PFTrDA across the entire house.
