Including filter system and high-performance PFTrDA filter.
PFTrDA is one of the PFAS family of chemicals that can migrate from industrial and consumer sources into groundwater and municipal supplies. These compounds break down very slowly, so they can remain in water long after their original source is gone. Local testing panels may list PFTrDA by name, and if you see it on a report it’s understandable to want a practical, home-wide solution to lower exposure in your Cudjoe Key house—whether you’re connected to the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority or using a private well or cistern.
PFTrDA won’t give your water an obvious odor, taste, or cloudiness, so laboratory analysis is the reliable way to detect it. Even when water meets regulatory standards, many Lower Florida Keys homeowners choose an extra layer of protection for peace of mind. A whole-house system treats water used for showering, cooking, laundry and brushing teeth across your Cudjoe Key home, helping ensure consistent reduction at every tap and appliance.
The most effective single-filter whole-house option for PFTrDA is a high-capacity activated carbon system using granular activated carbon (GAC). GAC removes many longer-chain PFAS by adsorbing them onto the carbon media as water flows through; PFTrDA behaves like a longer-chain compound and is often captured more efficiently by quality carbon than shorter-chain alternatives. In Cudjoe Key homes—where moderate hardness and the coastal, warm climate can affect system performance—correct tank size and sufficient contact time are important to achieve good removal at real household flow rates.
A whole-house carbon filter is mounted at the point where water enters your property so it protects every faucet and appliance without needing multiple under-sink units. To keep PFTrDA reduction steady in a home on Cudjoe Key, carbon media must be replaced on a schedule determined by your water use and the system’s capacity; adding a sediment pre-filter helps prevent clogging and extends carbon life by reducing channeling. Mr. Pure Water can assess your connection—whether municipal from the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority or a private well or cistern—and recommend the right-sized whole-house GAC system for PFAS like PFTrDA.
