Including filter system and high-performance PFTrDA filter.
PFTrDA is one of the PFAS family of chemicals that can enter drinking water when long-lasting compounds move from industrial uses and everyday products into the environment. Because PFAS are slow to break down, they can remain in water long after the original source is gone. In local testing panels and reports, individual compounds such as PFTrDA may be listed separately, and if you’ve seen PFTrDA flagged for your area, many Indrio homeowners look for a home-wide solution to lower it throughout their household water.
PFTrDA won’t be detectable by sight, smell, or taste, so the only reliable way to know if it’s present is a lab test that reports PFAS by compound. Even when water meets regulatory requirements, some residents of Indrio and greater St. Lucie County prefer extra treatment as an added layer of confidence. A whole-house system treats water for showering, cooking, laundry and brushing teeth, keeping treatment consistent across every faucet in homes along the Treasure Coast.
The most effective single-filter option for whole-house PFTrDA reduction is a high-capacity activated carbon system, usually using granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon removes many long-chain PFAS by adsorbing the contaminants as water flows through the media; PFTrDA is considered a longer-chain PFAS and is often more readily captured by quality carbon than some shorter-chain types. Proper tank size and sufficient contact time are important, so choosing the correct media volume ensures good performance at typical household flow rates in hard-water areas like Indrio.
A whole-house carbon filter is placed at the main water entry to treat every faucet and appliance without needing multiple under-sink units. To maintain PFTrDA reduction in Indrio homes, the carbon media must be replaced on a schedule tied to water use and system capacity. Adding a sediment pre-filter can protect the carbon bed from clogging and channeling—particularly useful in hard water conditions common on the Treasure Coast—and helps the system perform reliably. Mr. Pure Water can work with you to size and install a whole-house activated carbon system tuned to reduce PFAS like PFTrDA across your home.
