Phthalates in Postil Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Phthalates in the Water Supply of Postil Florida Homes

Phthalates are a group of chemicals commonly used as plasticizers to make plastics more flexible. They can get into water when materials containing them break down or when trace organics make their way through the wastewater stream and return to waterways. Because phthalates appear in many everyday products, they tend to show up as low-level, intermittent contaminants rather than a steady source. In Postil, homeowners typically first hear about them from water quality reports, local news, or simply from wanting to reduce chemical exposure at home.

Phthalates won’t usually change the taste or smell of tap water, and you can’t see them, which is why many Postil families opt to treat proactively. They’re associated with plastics and can exist at very small concentrations alongside other synthetic compounds, so homeowners aiming for broad protection should select treatment that targets dissolved organic chemicals, not just sediment or chlorine tastes. A whole-house system makes sense for Postil homes because it treats water used for bathing, laundry and cooking, not only drinking water.
