Including filter system and high-performance Radium filter.
Radium is a naturally occurring radioactive metal that can enter groundwater and, in some places, reach household water supplies. Because you can’t see, smell, or taste it, testing is the only reliable way to know whether radium is present; labs often report it as radium-226 or radium-228. Many homeowners in Astor Farms prefer treatments that protect the entire house rather than only a single faucet, so every glass of water and shower is covered.
Radium dissolves into water as it flows through certain rock and soil, so its occurrence depends on local geology more than daily activities. In central Florida communities like Astor Farms—where many properties draw from groundwater such as the Floridan aquifer—radium can move with other dissolved minerals and may show up even when water looks clear. If you’re worried about long-term exposure, treating water at the point it enters your home helps protect drinking, cooking, and bathing water throughout your plumbing.
For whole-house radium reduction, an ion exchange water softener is often the most effective single-filter option. These systems use resin beads that swap sodium or potassium ions for certain dissolved minerals, and radium can be captured during that exchange. When radium is present in dissolved form rather than bound to sediment, a properly installed ion exchange unit on the main water line treats all incoming water so every tap in an Astor Farms home benefits.
Ion exchange systems have a limited capacity, so correct sizing and routine maintenance are important for dependable radium removal. The resin requires periodic regeneration, and system settings should reflect your household demand and local water chemistry—especially in humid subtropical Astor Farms where groundwater mineral content can vary. Many homes also add a sediment prefilter to protect the resin and maintain steady flow. Mr. Pure Water can help choose and install a whole-house ion exchange solution that targets radium-226 and radium-228 and fits your plumbing and usage patterns.
