Including filter system and high-performance Radium filter.
Radium is a naturally occurring radioactive metal that can enter groundwater and, in some places, show up in household drinking water. Because you can’t see, smell, or taste it, the only reliable way to know whether it’s in your tap is through testing. Lab reports and water quality notices may list it as radium-226 or radium-228. Many East Naples homeowners who want whole-home protection choose treatments that cover every faucet rather than only a single point of use.
Radium often gets into water as it moves through certain rock and soil types, so its occurrence depends on local geology more than on everyday plumbing habits. It can travel along with other dissolved minerals—often found alongside the hardness common in Collier County water—even when the water looks clear. If you’re worried about long-term exposure while living in East Naples, treating water where it enters the house provides consistent reduction for drinking, cooking, bathing and appliances.
When treating radium at the whole-house level, an ion exchange water softener is frequently the most effective single-filter choice. These systems use resin beads that exchange sodium or potassium ions for certain dissolved minerals, and radium can be removed during that same exchange process. That makes ion exchange a good option when radium is present dissolved in the water rather than bound to sediment, and when installed on the main line it protects every tap in your East Naples home.
Ion exchange systems have limited capacity, so correct sizing and ongoing maintenance are essential for dependable radium reduction. The resin requires regular regeneration, and system settings should be matched to your home’s water chemistry, hardness and usage so the media doesn’t exhaust prematurely—especially important in hard-water areas like East Naples. Many houses benefit from a sediment prefilter to shield the resin and maintain good flow. Mr. Pure Water can evaluate your plumbing and recommend a whole-house ion exchange setup that targets radium-226 and radium-228 while fitting your household needs.
