Including filter system and high-performance Radium filter.
Radium is a naturally occurring radioactive metal that can appear in groundwater and occasionally in residential drinking water. Because you can’t see, smell, or taste it, the only reliable way to know if it’s in your supply is a lab test. You may also find it listed as radium-226 or radium-228 on water reports. Many Highland homeowners prefer solutions that protect every faucet instead of treating only a single tap.
Radium gets into water as it moves through certain rock and soil, so its presence depends on local geology rather than everyday household activity. It behaves like other dissolved minerals and can travel with hardness or other dissolved solids, even when water looks clear. If you want to lower long-term exposure for your family in Highland, treating water where it enters the house with a whole-house system helps maintain consistent quality for drinking, cooking, and bathing.
When treating radium at the whole-house level, an ion exchange water softener is often the most effective single-filter option. These systems use resin beads that exchange sodium or potassium ions for certain dissolved minerals, and radium can be removed during that same process. An ion exchange system is particularly appropriate when radium is dissolved rather than bound to sediment, and installing it on the main line treats all water entering a Highland home for uniform protection at every tap.
Because ion exchange resin has limited capacity, correct sizing and routine maintenance are essential for ongoing radium removal. The resin needs regular regeneration, and settings should match your water chemistry and household usage so the media doesn’t exhaust prematurely. Many Highland homes also benefit from a sediment prefilter to protect the resin and maintain steady flow. Mr. Pure Water can help Highland homeowners choose and install a whole-house ion exchange system that targets radium-226 and radium-228 and fits your plumbing and daily water needs.
