Including filter system and high-performance Radium filter.
Radium is a naturally occurring radioactive metal that can appear in groundwater and, in some places, in household drinking water. Because you can’t see, taste, or smell it, testing is the only reliable way for Scanlon homeowners to know what’s coming from the tap. Lab reports may list it as radium-226 or radium-228. When people in our area want protection throughout the house, they often choose solutions that treat every faucet instead of only a single point of use.
Radium can enter water as it moves through certain rock and soil, so its presence depends more on local geology than on how a household uses water. It can travel with other dissolved minerals and hardness, even when water appears clear. For Scanlon residents worried about long-term exposure, treating water at the main line keeps protection consistent for drinking, cooking, and bathing across the whole home.
For whole-house radium reduction, an ion exchange water softener is often the single-filter style that works best. These systems use resin beads to exchange sodium or potassium for dissolved minerals, and radium can be captured during that same process. When radium is present in dissolved form rather than bound to sediment, an ion exchange unit installed on the main supply treats all water entering a Scanlon home, helping ensure consistent protection at every tap.
Because ion exchange resin has limited capacity, correct sizing and routine maintenance are essential for ongoing radium removal. The media must be regenerated on a schedule suited to your water chemistry and household usage so it doesn’t become exhausted prematurely. Many Scanlon homes also benefit from a sediment prefilter to protect the resin and maintain steady flow. Mr. Pure Water can recommend and install a whole-house ion exchange system that targets radium-226 and radium-228 while matching your plumbing and daily water needs.
