Including filter system and high-performance Radium filter.
Radium is a naturally occurring radioactive metal that can appear in groundwater and occasionally in household water supplies. Because you can’t see, smell, or taste it, testing is the only reliable way to know if it’s present. Lab reports may list it as radium-226 or radium-228, so watch for those names. Many Wiley homeowners who want protection at every faucet choose treatments that work for the whole house rather than just a single tap.
Radium moves into water as it flows through certain rock and soil, so its occurrence depends on local geology more than daily use. It often travels with other dissolved minerals, so water that looks clear can still carry radium. In Wiley’s humid subtropical climate, with local conditions that vary by municipal or private well source, treating water where it enters the home helps reduce long-term exposure. A whole-house system treats water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and irrigation so the quality is consistent throughout your plumbing.
For whole-house radium reduction, an ion exchange water softener is commonly the most effective single-filter choice. These systems use resin beads that exchange sodium or potassium ions for certain dissolved minerals, and radium can be removed during that process. When radium is dissolved rather than bound to sediment, an ion exchange softener installed on the main line treats all incoming water and helps maintain consistent protection at every Wiley tap.
Because ion exchange systems have limited capacity, correct sizing and routine maintenance are essential to keep radium removal reliable. The resin requires regular regeneration and settings should reflect your household demand and water chemistry so the media doesn’t exhaust prematurely. Many Wiley homes benefit from a sediment prefilter to protect the resin and preserve flow, and Mr. Pure Water can assist with selecting and installing a whole-house ion exchange system that targets radium-226 and radium-228 while matching your plumbing and usage.
