Including filter system and high-performance Rusty Taste filter.
If your tap or cooking water in Lakemont ever picks up a metallic, rusty taste it can make everyday drinking and meals unpleasant — and you may also notice orange-brown staining in sinks, tubs or toilets. That flavor often comes from iron, corrosion byproducts, or disturbed sediment that get carried through plumbing. Even when water looks clear, dissolved iron can create a lingering metallic taste, and fluctuations in flow, seasonal source changes, or nearby work on lines can make the problem come and go.
Rusty-tasting water can show up in other ways around the house in Lakemont: dry-feeling skin after showers, dingy laundry, or spots on dishes, since the same particles that affect taste also cling to surfaces. Contributing factors include older metal piping, water heaters and well conditions; in central Florida many homes draw from the Floridan Aquifer, which is mineral-rich and can add to limescale and related issues. Flushing a tap may briefly clear the taste, but a whole-house solution is usually the most reliable way to improve water at every faucet and appliance.
For Lakemont homes where a rusty taste is linked to iron and fine sediment, the single most effective option is a whole-house iron filter using oxidation media. These backwashing tanks oxidize dissolved iron into a solid form and then trap it in the media bed, reducing metallic flavor and the staining that often follows. Installed on the main water line, the system brings steady improvement to drinking water, showers, laundry and appliances, and avoids the frequent clogging issues small cartridge filters face when iron is present.
Oxidation-media iron filters handle the different forms iron can take, including clear-water iron that doesn’t visibly look rusty. The system’s automatic backwash flushes captured material from the tank so performance stays consistent with minimal daily care. In cases with heavy grit, a simple sediment prefilter can protect the iron filter, but the oxidation media does the main work on taste. Mr. Pure Water can help Lakemont homeowners choose the right whole-house iron filter to reduce that rusty taste across the entire property.
