Selenium in Isles of Capri Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Selenium in the Water Supply of Isles of Capri Florida Homes

Selenium is a naturally occurring element that can dissolve from certain rocks and soils or enter waterways through human activity. In tiny amounts it’s part of normal nutrition, but because drinking water isn’t a controlled source, elevated selenium can be a homeowner concern. You can’t rely on taste or sight to detect it, so testing is the only way to know whether it’s in your supply; if results show higher levels, the next step is choosing a treatment that targets selenium effectively for your Isles of Capri residence.

Selenium may appear in several chemical forms, and those forms affect how easy it is to remove—some are tougher to capture than others. Many whole-house systems that focus on chlorine, odor, or sediment aren’t designed for dissolved contaminants like selenium. That’s why we start by checking your water chemistry here in Collier County, including hardness and any salt-air or corrosion concerns common along the coast, then match the right media and approach so treated water is available for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout your Isles of Capri home.
