Including filter system and high-performance Shigella filter.
Shigella is a bacterium that can enter drinking water when human waste reaches the distribution system, for example through cross-connections, backflow, or breaks in piping. Because only a small exposure can cause illness, any notice about Shigella is taken seriously by homeowners in Lely Resort and across Collier County. Even when municipal treatment is in place, contamination can occur between the plant and your faucet, so many families prefer a whole-house solution to maintain consistent water quality throughout their home.
Concerns about Shigella in household water commonly arise after boil-water advisories, plumbing incidents, or wider system alerts. Bacterial contamination isn’t something you can reliably detect by sight or smell, which is why residents in Lely Resort — whether near the Players Club & Spa or the Mustang Course — often look for a clear plan to protect water at the point it enters their plumbing. Addressing microbes at the whole-house level gives added peace of mind for families in our humid subtropical climate and hard-water conditions.
For controlling Shigella, the most effective single whole-house option is a UV water disinfection system. UV light inactivates bacteria by preventing them from reproducing, treating all water as it enters the home without adding chemicals. Properly sized to your household flow, a UV unit provides reliable protection against bacteria like Shigella rather than relying on a point-of-use faucet filter.
Because UV needs clear water to work well, many Lely Resort homes pair the UV chamber with prefiltration to remove sediment and reduce cloudiness that could block the light; this is especially helpful where Collier County’s hard water contributes to scale. The UV device is installed on the main line and requires correct sizing, a steady power supply, and routine lamp changes to stay effective. Mr. Pure Water can help you choose and size a whole-house UV system tailored to your home’s plumbing and water conditions in Lely Resort.
