Including filter system and high-performance Silica filter.
Silica is a naturally occurring mineral that can appear in tap water as dissolved silica or as silicates. It may not change how your water tastes in Avalon, but it can still cause frustrating signs around the house. When water heats or evaporates, silica often leaves behind persistent deposits that are tougher to remove than ordinary mineral scale—showing up as spots on glass, buildup on faucets, and reduced efficiency in hot-water appliances.
Because silica commonly stays dissolved and stable in water, it doesn’t always respond to the same treatments used for other issues. Standard water softeners target hardness minerals like calcium and magnesium, but they generally aren’t the best answer for silica. Some silica also exists as fine particulates, which behave differently than dissolved silica or silicates, so the problem can linger even when other aspects of your Avalon water seem managed.
For most Avalon homes, the single most effective whole-house filter for reducing silica is a reverse osmosis system. RO uses a semipermeable membrane to remove many dissolved minerals, including silica and silicates, rather than only catching larger particles. That ability makes it a strong choice for the dissolved forms of silica that can pass through sediment or carbon filters; when installed and sized correctly it addresses the source of the deposits you see on surfaces.
A whole-house reverse osmosis arrangement is usually paired with pretreatment to protect the membrane and maintain steady performance. Sediment and carbon prefilters reduce fouling and remove compounds that might interfere with RO, and they also capture any fine particulate silica before it reaches the membrane. Mr. Pure Water can assess whether silica or silicates are part of the buildup in your Avalon home and recommend the right pretreatment and RO configuration.
