Including filter system and high-performance Silica filter.
Silica is a naturally occurring mineral that can show up in tap water as dissolved silica or as silicates. You might not notice a change in flavor, but the issue becomes obvious around the house—especially where water heats or evaporates. In Hollywood homes, where treated municipal water is typically hard and warm year-round, silica can leave behind difficult, powdery deposits on glass, film and spotting on fixtures, and buildup that makes appliances and water heaters work harder.
Dissolved silica and silicates are stable in water and don’t always respond to the same treatments used for calcium and magnesium. Standard water softeners target hardness minerals but generally aren’t the best fix for silica. Some silica also exists as very fine particulate that behaves differently than dissolved forms, so residents across Broward County can still see spotting and scale even when other water issues seem managed.
For most Hollywood households the single most effective whole-house filter for reducing silica is a reverse osmosis system. RO relies on a semipermeable membrane to remove many dissolved minerals, including silica and silicates, rather than merely trapping larger debris. That capability makes it a better match for dissolved silica that can pass through conventional sediment or carbon filters and helps address the deposits that form on showers, glass, and appliances.
A whole-house reverse osmosis installation usually includes pretreatment to protect the membrane and keep it running well in our warm, hard-water conditions. Sediment and carbon stages reduce fouling and remove other contaminants that could impair the RO membrane, while the RO stage handles dissolved silica; any fine particulate silica is also easier to capture after proper pretreatment. Mr. Pure Water can evaluate your Hollywood home—whether you’re near Hollywood Beach or in a neighborhood like Emerald Hills—and recommend the right pretreatment and RO configuration for lasting results.
