Including filter system and high-performance Silica filter.
Silica is a common natural mineral that can appear in tap water as dissolved silica or as silicates. You may not taste it, but in Lockhart’s hard water conditions it can still cause noticeable problems around the home. When water heats or evaporates, silica often leaves behind stubborn deposits that are tougher to remove than ordinary limescale—leading to spotting on glass, white buildup on faucets and showerheads, and reduced efficiency in hot-water appliances.
Because much silica stays dissolved and chemically stable, it doesn’t always respond to the same treatment used for calcium and magnesium. Standard water softeners target hardness minerals but aren’t usually the best fix for dissolved silica or silicates. Some silica may also exist as very fine particulate that behaves differently than dissolved forms, so even if other aspects of your Lockhart water seem controlled, silica-related buildup can persist.
For most homes the single most effective whole-house option for reducing silica is reverse osmosis. An RO system uses a semipermeable membrane to remove many dissolved minerals—including silica and silicates—rather than relying on sediment traps or carbon alone. That makes reverse osmosis a good match for the dissolved silica that can pass through typical filtration, especially in Central Florida homes with hard municipal or well water.
A whole-house reverse osmosis installation is usually paired with pretreatment to protect the membrane and maintain reliable performance. Sediment and carbon stages ahead of the RO reduce fouling and remove other contaminants that can shorten membrane life, and pretreatment can also capture fine particulate silica before it reaches the membrane. Mr. Pure Water can inspect your Lockhart home, help determine whether silica or silicates are behind the scaling, and recommend the right pretreatment and RO configuration for your needs.
