Including filter system and high-performance Silica filter.
Silica is a natural mineral that can appear in tap water as dissolved silica or as silicates. It doesn’t always affect flavor, but it can cause real household headaches. In Mascotte and across Lake County, silica can leave behind stubborn deposits when water evaporates or is heated, producing hard-to-remove film on glass, spotting on dishes, and deposits on faucets and showerheads. These residues also make mineral buildup in water heaters and appliances worse in our hard, central-Florida groundwater.
Because much silica is dissolved and chemically stable in water, it often resists the same treatment that handles calcium and magnesium. Standard water softeners target hardness minerals but aren’t typically the best answer for silica or silicates. Some silica may exist as fine particulate that behaves differently from dissolved forms, so homeowners in neighborhoods from Dukes Lake to Royal Highlands can still see scale and spotting even when other water issues seem managed.
For most Mascotte houses, the single most effective whole-house option for reducing silica is a reverse osmosis system. RO uses a semipermeable membrane to remove many dissolved minerals, including silica and silicates, rather than relying solely on sediment or carbon filters. That membrane approach is well suited to the dissolved silica that can pass through common filtration, helping address the root cause of persistent deposits rather than only masking symptoms on fixtures and glass.
A whole-house reverse osmosis installation is usually accompanied by pretreatment to protect the RO membrane and keep it working well. Sediment and carbon stages reduce fouling from particles and organic material, and they help capture any fine particulate silica before it reaches the membrane. Mr. Pure Water can evaluate Mascotte households—whether near Lake Apopka or closer to the Florida Turnpike—and recommend the pretreatment and RO configuration that fits your plumbing, water hardness, and long-term performance needs.
