Including filter system and high-performance Strontium-90 filter.
Strontium-90 is a radioactive form of strontium that can occur in water at trace levels. Because it acts much like calcium, it travels with groundwater and can enter a residence through the main supply line, and there’s no reliable taste, smell, or color to signal its presence. In Country Walk and the surrounding Miami‑Dade area, the only way to know if it’s in your water is a lab test that specifically checks for radionuclides.
Families use water throughout the home for drinking, cooking, making ice, bathing and brushing teeth, so concerns about strontium-90 extend beyond a single faucet. If testing indicates elevated levels, the best practice is to treat water at the point it enters your Country Walk house so all fixtures receive the same protection. Point-of-use devices can help at one sink but won’t safeguard appliances, showers, or outdoor taps the way a whole-house system can.
A whole-house water softener using ion exchange is often the most effective single-filter option for reducing strontium-90 because the resin swaps certain dissolved ions for sodium or potassium. Since strontium behaves chemically like other positively charged minerals, the ion exchange process can capture strontium as water passes through the tank. For Country Walk homeowners looking for entry-point treatment that covers every tap, an ion exchange softener is a practical, straightforward choice.
To perform reliably in Country Walk’s hard-water conditions, an ion exchange softener must be sized to your household’s flow and mineral load and regenerated regularly with salt to restore the resin. Routine maintenance and appropriate prefiltration to remove sediment will help the media last longer and maintain removal of strontium over time. Mr. Pure Water can review your lab results and recommend a whole-house softener and prefilter setup tailored to your home in Country Walk and the Miami‑Dade area.
