Including filter system and high-performance Strontium-90 filter.
Strontium-90 is a radioactive form of strontium that can occur at very low concentrations in groundwater. Because it behaves like calcium, it moves with dissolved minerals through aquifers and can enter an Eldred home through the main service line. You won’t detect it by taste, smell, or sight — the only reliable way to know if it’s present is a targeted radionuclide water test.
In Eldred households, water is used for cooking, making ice, bathing and brushing teeth, so any contaminant found on a test matters throughout the home. If results show elevated strontium-90, the aim is to treat water at the entry point so every faucet and fixture is covered. Point-of-use filters protect single taps, but they leave the rest of the house exposed; a correctly chosen whole-house system delivers consistent protection across daily water use in your Eldred home.
A whole-house water softener using ion exchange is often the most effective single-filter option for reducing strontium-90 because its resin swaps certain dissolved ions for sodium or potassium. That same exchange mechanism that targets hardness minerals can also capture positively charged contaminants like strontium, so an ion exchange system can reduce strontium-90 when installed at the home’s point of entry in Eldred.
To perform well in Eldred’s humid subtropical climate and with local groundwater variability, an ion exchange softener must be sized for your household’s water use and mineral load. Routine regeneration with salt restores the resin’s ability to remove strontium, and basic maintenance helps sustain performance. Prefiltration to remove sediment often extends media life. Mr. Pure Water can review your water test and recommend a whole-house softener setup that targets strontium-90 without adding unnecessary complexity.
