Including filter system and high-performance Strontium-90 filter.
Strontium-90 is a radioactive form of strontium that can occur at very low concentrations in water. Because it acts like calcium, it can dissolve in groundwater and travel into a house through the main supply line, and you won’t be able to detect it by taste, smell, or sight. The only reliable way to know if it’s present in your Majette water is to have a laboratory test that specifically looks for radionuclides.
In Majette households, water is used for much more than drinking—cooking, ice machines, bathing, and oral care all rely on the same source. If tests identify elevated strontium-90, the practical approach is to treat water at the point it enters the home so every faucet and fixture is protected. Single faucet point-of-use filters can help at one sink, but they leave the rest of the house unprotected. A correctly chosen whole-house system gives consistent treatment across all daily uses in your home.
For reducing strontium-90 throughout the house, a whole-house water softener using ion exchange is often the most effective single-filter option. The resin in the softener swaps certain dissolved ions for sodium or potassium and can also capture other positively charged contaminants like strontium. Because strontium-90 is chemically strontium, it can be reduced by this exchange process, making an ion exchange softener a practical choice for entry-point treatment in Majette homes.
An ion exchange softener must be sized to your household’s water use and mineral load to perform well. Routine regeneration with salt restores the resin so it continues to remove strontium, and regular maintenance preserves consistent performance. Often a prefilter is recommended to keep sediment from fouling the media and shortening its life. Mr. Pure Water can review your water test results and recommend a whole-house softener setup for Majette that targets strontium-90 without making the system more complicated than necessary.
