Including filter system and high-performance Strontium-90 filter.
Strontium-90 is a radioactive form of strontium that can appear in water at very low concentrations. Because it behaves much like calcium, it can dissolve into groundwater and travel through mains into a home in McLellan without any change in taste, smell, or color to warn you. The only reliable way to detect it is with water testing that specifically looks for radionuclides.
Families in McLellan use tap water for drinking, cooking, ice, bathing, and brushing teeth, so concerns about strontium-90 often come up when homeowners evaluate overall water safety. If testing indicates elevated levels, the aim is to reduce exposure by treating water at the point it enters the house so every faucet and appliance gets protected. Point-of-use devices only cover a single sink; a correctly chosen whole-house system gives consistent treatment across typical daily uses throughout your McLellan home.
When a single whole-house filter is the goal, an ion exchange water softener is frequently the most effective choice for reducing strontium-90. The softener’s resin swaps certain dissolved ions for sodium or potassium and can capture positively charged contaminants like strontium. Because strontium-90 is chemically strontium, it can be decreased using that same exchange process, making an ion exchange softener a practical entry-point treatment for McLellan homes.
To perform well in McLellan, an ion exchange softener must be sized to your household’s water use and overall mineral content. Regular regeneration with salt restores the resin so it continues to remove strontium, and routine maintenance preserves long-term performance. Often a prefilter is paired with the softener to keep sediment from shortening resin life. Mr. Pure Water can review your water test results and recommend a whole-house configuration tailored for McLellan homeowners that targets strontium-90 without making the system more complicated than it needs to be.
