Including filter system and high-performance Strontium-90 filter.
Strontium-90 is a radioactive form of strontium that can occur in water at very low concentrations. Because it behaves much like calcium, it can dissolve into groundwater and travel through the main line into a Meridian home without any change in taste, smell, or appearance to warn you. The only reliable way to know whether it’s present is through water testing that specifically looks for radionuclides.
In Meridian households, water is used for cooking, making ice, bathing and oral care, so any contaminant in the supply can touch many parts of daily life. Point-of-use filters at a single sink can help in one location, but they won’t protect showers, laundry or outdoor spigots. If testing shows concerning strontium-90 results, homeowners typically choose treatment at the point of entry so every fixture receives the same protection across the whole house.
A whole-house water softener using ion exchange is often the single-filter option that most effectively reduces strontium-90, because the resin swaps certain dissolved ions for sodium or potassium. Strontium is chemically similar to calcium, so the resin can capture those positively charged strontium ions and lower their presence before water reaches your taps in Meridian. For many families, an ion exchange softener installed at the home’s entry point is a practical way to address this contaminant across every use.
To perform well in a Meridian home, an ion exchange softener should be sized for your household’s water usage and the water’s mineral load, and it requires regular regeneration with salt to refresh the resin. Routine maintenance and good prefiltration help prevent sediment from shortening the media’s life and keep reductions consistent. Mr. Pure Water can review your test results and recommend a whole-house softener configuration that targets strontium-90 effectively while fitting your home’s needs.
