Including filter system and high-performance Strontium-90 filter.
Strontium-90 is a radioactive form of strontium that can occur in water at trace levels. Because it acts like calcium chemically, it can dissolve into groundwater and travel through your main line into a house without any telltale taste, smell, or color. The only reliable way to know whether it’s present in your South Patrick Shores water is to have a lab perform radionuclide-specific testing.
In South Patrick Shores households, water is used for drinking, cooking, making ice, bathing, and oral care—so any contaminant found in source water can affect daily life beyond the kitchen tap. If testing reveals elevated strontium-90, the safest approach is to treat water at the point it enters the home so all fixtures are protected. Point-of-use filters protect a single faucet, but a properly chosen whole-house system covers showers, laundry, and every other outlet in your Brevard County residence.
For reducing strontium-90 throughout the house, an ion exchange whole-house water softener is often the most practical single-filter solution. Softener resin swaps certain dissolved ions for sodium or potassium, and that ion exchange process can capture positively charged contaminants like strontium. Because strontium-90 behaves chemically as strontium, it can be reduced by the same exchange mechanism a softener uses, making an entry-point system a good choice for South Patrick Shores homes.
To be effective in South Patrick Shores—where hard municipal water is common—an ion exchange softener must be sized for your household’s water use and mineral load. Routine regeneration with salt restores the resin so it continues removing strontium over time, and prefiltration helps keep sediment from fouling the media. Mr. Pure Water can review your test results and recommend a whole-house softener and prefilter setup tailored to your Space Coast home.
