Including filter system and high-performance Strontium-90 filter.
Strontium-90 is a radioactive form of strontium that can occur at very low concentrations in water. Because it behaves like calcium, it can dissolve into groundwater and travel through pipes into a Villa Sabine home via the main line. There’s no reliable taste, smell, or color to give you a heads-up if it’s present, so the only way to know is through targeted water testing for radionuclides.
You use household water for far more than drinking — cooking, making ice, bathing, and brushing teeth all matter for exposure. If testing indicates elevated strontium-90, the sensible strategy is to treat water at the point it enters the house so every faucet and shower benefits. Point-of-use filters protect a single tap, but they won’t cover the whole home; a properly chosen whole-house system gives consistent treatment for everyday use across a Villa Sabine property.
A whole-house water softener that uses ion exchange is often the most effective single-filter option for reducing strontium-90. The resin in the softener swaps certain dissolved ions for sodium or potassium and can also capture positively charged contaminants like strontium. Because strontium-90 is chemically strontium, it can be reduced by that exchange process, making an ion exchange softener a practical entry-point treatment for Villa Sabine homes.
To perform well, an ion exchange softener must be sized for your household’s water use and the mineral content of your supply. Regular regeneration with salt restores the resin so it continues to remove strontium over time, and routine maintenance preserves consistent performance. Prefiltration often protects the media from sediment that can shorten its life. Mr. Pure Water can review your Villa Sabine test results and recommend a whole-house softener setup that targets strontium-90 without adding unnecessary complexity.
