Including filter system and high-performance Strontium-90 filter.
Strontium-90 is a radioactive form of strontium that can appear in water at very low concentrations. Because it mimics calcium chemically, strontium can dissolve into groundwater and travel into a house through the main service line. It won’t have a distinctive taste, smell, or color to warn you, so the only reliable way to know whether it’s present is with laboratory testing targeted at radionuclides — something many Waukeenah homeowners ask about when they evaluate their well or municipal supply.
Families in Waukeenah use water for cooking, ice, bathing and brushing teeth, so any contaminant found in testing is a whole-home concern. If results show elevated strontium-90, reducing exposure means treating water at the point it enters the house so every faucet and shower is covered. Point-of-use devices can protect a single sink, but they leave the rest of the home unprotected; many residents prefer a whole-house solution for consistent protection across daily water use in Waukeenah.
A whole-house water softener that uses ion exchange is often the most effective single-filter option for reducing strontium-90 because the resin swaps certain dissolved ions for sodium or potassium. Because strontium behaves chemically like other positively charged ions, the ion exchange media can capture it as water passes through the tank. For homeowners in Waukeenah looking for entry-point treatment, an ion exchange softener is a practical choice that provides treated water to every fixture in the home.
For reliable performance in Waukeenah, an ion exchange softener must be sized to your household’s daily water use and the water’s mineral load. Regular regeneration with salt restores the resin so it continues to remove strontium over time, and routine maintenance prevents declines in efficiency. Adding a prefilter to keep sediment out of the softener helps protect the media’s lifespan. Mr. Pure Water can review your lab results and recommend a whole-house configuration tailored for Waukeenah homes to target strontium-90 without unnecessary complexity.
